Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Social Circle Police Department to enhance the quality of life for the people within our community by providing professional, high quality, and effective police service in partnership with the community.

About the SCPD

The Social Circle Police Department is a state certified law enforcement agency certified through the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police. The Department was recertified in March of 2022. Reports, Requests and Forms 

How do I obtain a police or accident report?

Police and accident reports can be picked up at the Police Department Monday -Friday from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. They may also be emailed to involved parties. A request will have to be made by phone and personal identifiers confirmed prior to an emailed report being sent. Requests can be made by contacting the PD at (770) 464-2366. Accident reports can also be purchased online by going to buycrash.com and utilizing the case number provided by the officer at the time of the accident.

What if I have an open records or criminal history request?

If an individual wants to obtain a report in which they are not an involved party, an open records request will need to be filed with City Clerk Susan Roper utilizing the City’s Open Records Request form (downloadable PDF format). This form also would be used to request body camera footage. Criminal history requests can be processed at the police department Monday -Friday from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.  A signed consent form and a cash fee of $20.00 is required.

How do I get a pouring/handling permit or alcohol license renewal (fingerprints) form?

Alcohol Handling Permit and fingerprint forms are completed Monday -Friday from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.   A packet will need to be completed and notarized prior to the issuance of the permit. Handling permits cost $85.00, ($60.00 for the fingerprinting/background check and $25.00 for the pouring card). Business alcohol license renewals require fingerprints. The fee is $85.00.

What do I need to drive a golf cart in the City?

Low speed permits for golf carts may be obtained at the police department Monday -Friday from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. The fee is $12.00 and is good for five years. Once the application is completed and the fee paid an officer will have to complete an inspection of the low-speed vehicle before decals are issued.

How do I request an extra patrol or welfare check?

Extra patrol is a service that is offered by the PD. This can be requested if a resident is going out of town and would like officers to check their homes while they are away. It can also be used if the homeowner has observed suspicious activity and wishes for officers to show more presence in the area.

Welfare checks can be completed by contacting the 911 center non-emergency number at 770-464-0310.

If an individual wishes to have an officer dispatched but it is for a non-emergency purpose, they will need to contact the 911 center non-emergency number at 770-464-0310.

Compliments, complaints

An AIC form is used if an individual wishes to file a complaint or wishes to file a commendation on an officer.
