Friendship Park Christmas Tree decorating

“City parks serve, day in and day out, as the primary green spaces for the majority of Americans.”– Bruce Babbitt former Secretary of the Interior (1993-2001)

The City of Social Circle operates four parks that provide residents and visitors natural beauty, spacious places to gather, as well as spaces for sports and recreation.

Friendship Park is located downtown on N. Cherokee Road. Festivals, Christmas Tree Lightings and other large events like summer concerts are held here. The park has areas to walk, two pavilions for events, and a wildflower garden for bees and butterflies.

The City also operates Burks Park, Veterans Park and the Post Office Park.

Burks Park has two basketball goals, a baseball field and a playground.

Veteran's Park has a memorial to our community and country's Veterans, as well as a walking trail.

The Post Office Park has a playground suited for toddlers and young grade school children.

The Mayor and City Council approved a City Parks Agreement in early 2022, setting guidelines for the use of City parks. The agreement, in part, reads, "The City leases and allows for limited duration event rental of parks in order to promote, coordinate, and sponsor community events that benefit Social Circle and that fit within the capacities of the parks and currently available services."
