In May of  2022, the City of Social Circle began the process to completely overhaul the zoning ordinance, subdivision ordinance, tree ordinance, some environmental standards, and design standards to create a more modern, clearer, and simpler document: the Social Circle Unified Development Code (UDC).

The goal of this complete rewrite was to clarify and streamline processes that were not codified in the past, modernize outdated standards, combine some zoning designations with very similar uses, reference the Community Development Department and other positions that did not exist previously, and to help regulate future development of the City of Social Circle.

This UDC draft, with redlined changes, can be found in its entirety above, along with a summary of the process of building this draft and some of the major changes / additions to the draft from the current code.

There will be public hearings on the proposed UDC in the near future, which will be advertised in the Walton Tribune. If you would like to offer public comment on the proposed draft in written form prior to the final public hearing, please use the form below.

If you have any questions, contact the Community Development Director, Ashley Davis, via email at adavis@socialcirclega.gov.
