The City of Social Circle will hold a series of “revolving door” style meetings to gather public input on the proposed Unified Development Code or UDC. The UDC is meant to help regulate future development for Social Circle with care and vision.
These meetings will be held Wednesday, April 12 from 12:30-2:30 p.m., and from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The public is invited to drop-in at any time during these hours. Staff will be present to answer questions. There will not be a formal presentation. A few copies of the draft UDC will be available for review on site. Some copies of the rewrite summary will be available for attendees to take home.
A draft of the UDC can be found on the City’s website: https://www.socialcirclega.gov/about-us/code-of-ordinances/proposed-unified-development-code/-fsiteid-1#!/
In May 2022, the City of Social Circle began the process to completely overhaul the zoning ordinance, subdivision ordinance, tree ordinance, and several environmental and design standards to create an updated and clarified document. The goal for the rewrite is to streamline processes that were not codified in the past, modernize outdated standards, combine several zoning designations with similar uses, and define the Community Development Department’s responsibilities.
