Mayor KeenerAs your City continues to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we want to pass on some good advice from Bruce Williamson, Georgia House Representative from District 115 , “Governor Kemp is fighting to keep Georgia safe, but appropriately points out that we, the public, are key to the successful mitigation of this serious health pandemic.”

Our City continues to monitor the situations and will continue to provide essential services while minimizing the risk to residents.

  • The City has set up a web page with links to resources and all our updates in one place. (https://socialcirclega.gov/city-covid-19-resources/)
  • If you have any business with the City, please call (770) 464-2380 before going to City Hall. The front windows are closed. You can pay utility bills through the drop-box and the drive-thru window will be attended during normal business hours every day at least through the end of March.
  • The Welcome Center is closed until further notice. You can reach them at (770) 464-1866.
  • Social Circle Transit will continue to provide services, with limitations on passenger loads to avoid close contact between passengers. Please call (770) 464-2953 to schedule your ride at least 24-hours in advance.
  • City public works and public safety services are continuing as usual.
  • Early voting has been halted and the March 24 election is postponed until May 19.
  • The City Council Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, will still be held. You can view the agenda online (https://socialcirclecityga.iqm2.com/Citizens/Detail_Meeting.aspx?ID=2008), and the meeting will be streamed live on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/cityofsocialcirclegeorgia/. There are a number of public hearings on the agenda. If you wish to make comments but prefer not to attend the meeting in person, you may submit your comment in writing at the City Hall drive-thru or email CityCouncilPHC@socialcirclega.com by noon on March 17. Those comments will be presented to council during the meeting and will be made part of the record.
  • If you were scheduled for a court date for this Wednesday, March 18, you will receive a letter about the status of your case. Many cases are rescheduled to April and May, but there will be some cases heard as scheduled this Wednesday. Please call the Court Clerk at 770-464-6904 if you have questions or do not receive a letter.

The latest update from the Georgia DPH says there are currently 121 reported cases of COVID-19 in Georgia, none reported in Walton County and there has been one death in the state.

The Georgia DPH and the CDC are recommending “Social Distancing” to help prevent the spread of the virus. From the CDC website:

Social distancing means remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings, and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) from others when possible.
