On January 7, 2018 at approximately 1:30am the Social Circle Police Department was dispatched to the 600 block of Meadows Ln Social Circle, Ga in reference to a fight. Prior to our arrival, Walton County 911 advised that a male subject had been shot multiple times and left the location in a silver car. Walton County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were flagged down by a silver car on Hwy 11 in the area of Lipscomb Rd. Inside the car were three juveniles who stated their uncle, who was driving, had been shot multiple times. The victim identified as 27 year old Jonathan Rajiv Gresham from Monroe was transported to Clearview Regional Hospital and later died from his injuries. Social Circle Police Department has arrested 32 year old Keith Katrell Malcom from Monroe in connection with the homicide and he is being held at the Walton County Jail charged with aggravated assault, murder, four counts of cruelty to children, possession of a firearm during a commission of a crime, possession of firearm by a convicted felon and possession of schedule 1 drugs with intent to distribute.
Thus far, the investigation revealed that there was some type of verbal argument inside the residence during a get together between Jonathan Gresham and Keith Malcom. The two men went outside and shots were fired. As of now, it is unknown what the argument was about and this investigation is still on-going. SCPD is being assisted by the GBI, Walton County Sheriff’s Crime Scene, Walton County DA’s Office and Walton County Coroner’s Office.
Teresa Duval was recognized as the City of Social Circle’s Employee of the Year for 2017 by the heads of the various departments within the City. Teresa, who works in payroll and accounts payable, was instrumental in changing insurance providers and in moving to a new financial system while keeping up with her day-to-day job with a smile and her characteristic patience.
There have been several break-ins reported in Social Circle and also Newton and Walton Counties. The incidents occurred in Jubilee, Laurel Oaks and Windsong. There are a few leads including fingerprints and surveillance video. It’s believed they were driving a gray Dodge Ram or a white Dodge Charger.
The Social Circle Police Department have added additional patrols to increase coverage during the overnight hours after break-ins were reported in the surrounding area. The Social Circle Police Department is working with agencies in the surrounding area to find the suspects. We will post updates as we have more information.
We caution residents to remove all valuables and personal items from your car and keep your doors locked. If you see or hear anything suspicious please give us a call.

City Hall will be closed Monday, December 25, Tuesday, December 26 and Monday, January 1. There will be no bus service on those days.
Trash pick up will be delayed by a day the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s Day. Tuesday pickups will take place on Wednesday and Thursday pickups will take place on Friday both weeks.
Once you have finished enjoying your Christmas tree, recycle it! Bring it to the parking lot behind the
Police Station between Dec 26 and Jan 6 and we will work with Keep Walton Beautiful to turn
the tree into mulch.

The Social Circle Police Department is asking for your assistance in identifying these two women in connection with a theft that occurred on December 12 between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm at Barbed Wire & Lace in Social Circle. Allegedly, one woman distracted the victim while another stole her wallet. The stolen cards were later used at the Wal-Mart located at 10300 Industrial Blvd in Covington, where this image was obtained from security cameras.
There is a possible reward for any information leading to an arrest and prosecution in this case.

Over the next two weeks, the City of Social Circle Gas Department will be performing their annual gas leak survey. A contractor accompanied by a City employee will be going throughout the City checking gas meters.
