Application

In January of each year, the Mayor and Council appoint community members to a number of volunteer Boards and Commissions to provide recommendations and input. If you would like to contribute to your community with your talents, interest, or expertise, please submit an application.

Cemetery Committee

  • Oversees the maintenance and preservation of the City cemeteries.
  • Meets as needed at the Fellowship Hall at the Social Circle United Methodist Church.

Downtown Development Authority

  • Responsible for revitalizing and redeveloping the central business district.
  • Meets every 2nd Thursday of every other month at 10:00 AM in the Conference room at City Hall.

Historic Preservation Commission

  • Provides a uniform procedure for use in providing for the protection, enhancement, perpetuation and use of places, district, sites, buildings, structures, objects, and landscape features having a special historical, cultural or aesthetic interest or value.
  • Meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 PM in the Community Room.

Library Board

Planning and Corridor Commission

  • Responsible for facilitating a coordinated and harmonious development of the City. The Corridor Commission is established to protect and enhance the Highway 11 and the North Cherokee Road and South Cherokee Road Corridors as these corridors have a direct impact on places, with special historical, cultural, or aesthetic interest or values.
  • Meets every 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:00 PM in the Community Room.

Social Circle Housing Authority

  • The Authority’s purpose is to provide and manage low income housing for residents of the City of Social Circle, GA in accordance with regulations prescribed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Social Circle Development Authority

  • Responsible for promoting and assisting economic and industrial development in the City
  • Meets every 2nd Thursday of the month in January, April, July and October at 8:30 AM in the Conference Room at City Hall.

Social Circle Main Street Commission

  • Focused on the preservation, promotion and growth of Social Circle’s Downtown Business District.
  • Meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 8:00 AM at Church at the Grove.

Tree Board

  • Responsible for protecting and preserving the trees within the City public spaces and to oversee the protection, preservation, and planting of trees in new construction as set forth in the Code of Ordinances.
  • Meets every 4th Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM in the Community Room.
